Professor Brent Higgins is a Luiz Palhares 2nd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Professor Bobby Thompson, bringing more than 16 years of martial arts experience to the mats at Xequemate Jiu-Jitsu in Jacksonville, FL.

Brent’s experience reaches far beyond Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He also holds a Black Belt in Jeet Kune Do and Kali, has trained in CSW and Catch Wrestling systems, and continues to expand his knowledge by studying Judo under Sensei Lance Olson. His diverse background gives him a unique perspective on grappling, movement, control, and the way techniques from different martial arts can complement one another.

Known as a highly technical practitioner, Brent has an eye for the small details that can make a big difference in a student’s Jiu-Jitsu. Despite his extensive experience, he’s always ready to get on the mats, enjoy a good roll, and share his knowledge with students and teammates.

Brent’s combination of experience, technical ability, and continued desire to learn adds even more depth to the high-level instruction available at our Jacksonville BJJ academy.
