Professor Alex Cook
2nd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt | Experienced Martial Artist
Professor Alex Cook is a 2nd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt whose martial arts journey began at just 18 years old with Muay Thai. What started as a focus on striking eventually led him deeper into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where the technical complexity and challenge of the art quickly became a lasting passion.
Throughout his journey, Alex has had the opportunity to learn from and train alongside respected instructors and teams, including Professor Bobby Thompson, Dean Grant and The Training Yard, and Luiz and Pedro Palhares. His time with the Palhares Jiu-Jitsu family has played an important role in his development as both a martial artist and black belt.
With experience in both striking and grappling, Alex brings a well rounded martial arts perspective to the mats. As a 2nd Degree Black Belt, he also adds to the depth of experienced, high ranking practitioners available to students training at Xequemate Jiu-Jitsu in Jacksonville, FL.
For Alex, Jiu-Jitsu has become much more than earning belts or learning techniques. The relationships, challenges, and years spent growing alongside teammates have made the martial arts community an important part of his life. He brings that same appreciation for training, continued learning, and team culture to our Jacksonville BJJ community.
